Born in Shanghai, Jing moved to England at the age of five and was raised in Hampshire.  Despite being born to an academic family, Jing fell into performing when she was selected to appear alongside Phillip Schofield and Ria Jones in The Really Useful Group's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at just 10 years old. Jing went on to study at Peter Symonds' College, Winchester (alumni includes Alexa Chung, Jack Dee and Ben Ainslie) before graduating from University College London in Law.

Opting out of a legal lifestyle in the City to pursue her acting career, Jing's screen debut was in Porcelain Film's 2008 feature film Breathe, an urban British drama starring Ricci Harnett. In 2009, she starred as Princess Meng Li Hua in KRU Studio's epic historical blockbuster Clash of Empires: Battle For Asia, which broke box office records in Malaysia, and has gone on to be released in over 70 countries. On home soil, Jing appears alongside Dexter Fletcher, Olivia Hallinan, and Jason Flemyng in British gangster noir Jack Falls and can soon be seen with Anil Kapoor in the Bollywood action thriller Tezz (released April 2012). Jing is currently appearing in BBC1's Holby City as new F1, Tara Lo.
